Artists: Max Martin & Mandolin Burns Title: Lover’s Duet 2 Live Sound by Celeste Olivier Performers: Max Martin & Mandolin Burns Bio: Max and Mandolin are lovers and creators who have developed a collaborative practice that centers the idea of how lovers collaborate with one another. Informed by an ancestral lineage of pairs that have come before them, made iconographic by their love and the way that it informed their work. Max Martin is a German-American multidisciplinary artist with a focus in choreography, performance and improvisation. They were a 2023 Artist in Residence with Ghostlight Residency, and a 2024 artist in residence with Mudhouse residency in Crete. Mandolin Burns is a Los Angeles based multidisciplinary artist, originally from Portland. Their practice centers movement on camera as well as performance and improvisation, currently they are creating and performing as a collaborator with dance company Zoe|Juniper. The intersection of collaboration between Max and Mandolin lies with rave as research, erotics, dress up and care. Both are CalArts graduates and co-founders of CRAWLSPACE LA, a performance venue and studio in the Arts District, where they curate experimental performance and community gatherings. Together, they will be presenting the third round of research related performance in their ongoing practice titled “lovers practice”. / @maxvo1um3 & @mandolinoelani
